“Women like Janne are more than important, they are vital to the fabric of this society. She exudes strength and grace in a combination like few I’ve ever known and her words are reminders, often fierce, often gentle, to that deep well of power inside her. As long as she writes, I’ll read.”
Tyler Knott Gregson, author of Chasers of the Light

Conversations With Wholeness

We are inherently whole.

Wholeness is the state we are born into this world and wholeness is what we remain.

Somewhere along the way we develop, as most humans—survival mechanisms and patterns.

Our survival patterns are how we try create safety for ourselves.

When we are outside of our capacity we will sometimes fall into acting from our survival patterns, rather than our wholeness.

Our survival patterns are not who we are—they are patterns.

Some of us have the survival pattern of rigidity and control—trying to keep it all organized in a small box so we are safe.

Others have an avoidance survival pattern which can manifest in small and large ways. Avoiding hard conversations to diving into addictions to disassociate from the responsibility of this plane.

When I’m thrown outside of my capacity I sometimes act from anxiety or reactivity which are also survival patterns.

Here’s something incredibly important to know: your survival patterns are not who you are.

They are patterns that can be integrated, healed and completed.

Who you are is wholeness.

Being in relationship with ourselves and others inherently comes with being in relationship with our and others wholeness AND survival patterns.

We can feel a deep shame towards our own survival mechanism and a deep aversion to experiencing others in our life moving from their survival patterns.

This is understandable—survival energy is survival energy and it has a flavor of well, surviving.

It’s not pleasant to be with—whether it’s inside of ourselves or others.

I had a partner who when he was in his wholeness was so gracious and kind with servers at restaurants.

But when outside of his capacity he fell into a survival pattern of urgency and moving fast—this sometimes lacked grace with people in public places.

I was deeply thrown off by his shortness and quickness and at one point wondered if he was the right person for me.

Until I realized that this was not who he was—this was him outside of his capacity.

Part of my work was remembering who he was, when he was not in his wholeness.

Join me on July 23rd at 9 AM PST for this conversation and poetry workshop on remembering your and others inherent wholeness.

Whether you’ve never written a poem in your life or written 500–you’re welcome.

Let's Make Art
“Poetry is very old. It’s very sacred. It wishes for a community — it’s a community ritual, certainly. And that’s why, when you write a poem, you write it for anybody and everybody. And you have to be ready to do that out of your single self. It’s a giving. It’s always — it’s a gift. It’s a gift to yourself, but it’s a gift to anybody who has a hunger for it." -Mary Oliver

"In a consumer society we are starving for the real and authentic. Janne's words nourish that craving. If that which is spoken from the heart is sacred, these poems are like prayers." -Dianne Whelan
